What are my favourite children’s books?

I am very lucky that once a week I get to look after one of my beautiful grand babies for the afternoon and one of the very best things that we do together is read lots and lots of stories. We particularly love funny rhyming books and books with beautiful illustrations and here are some of our current favourites:

1. Oi Frog!

written by Kes Gray and illustrated by Jim Field – this book just never stops being
funny! It has awesome rhymes, beautiful colourful illustrations and is just fabulous for both parent/carer and child to enjoy together over and over again. Love it, love it, love it!

2. The Gruffalo’s Child

written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler –
another in the fabulous Julia Donaldson’s portfolio of excellent children’s books. There’s aways something magical about Julia’s books and whilst the illustrations are glorious, for me it’s the rhyme every time – just brilliant!

3. Mog the Forgetful Cat

written and illustrated by Judith Kerr – a particular favourite of one of my grand baby’s, this book has truly lasted the test of time. First released in 1970, the
book features the mishaps and adventures of Mog, a beautifully illustrated and totally adorable cat.

What are your favourite children’s books at the moment?
